See, the multiverse is a delicate web of realities. The film picks up from the mid-credit scene at the end of Into the Spider-Verse – where we're first introduced to Spider-Man 2099, aka Miguel O'Hara ( Oscar Isaac), a version of Spider-Man hailing from the futuristic Nueva York (Earth-928), who has some real beef with our hero's interdimensional shenanigans. It also meant that Across the Spider-Verse ended with an absolute nail-biter of a cliffhanger. That means we'll have to wait (nearly) an entire year, and for Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse, before we finally learn the fate of Miles Morales (Shameik Moore), Gwen Stacy (Hailee Steinfeld), and the rest of our beloved Spider-Crew. Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse's writer-producer team, Phil Lord and Chris Miller, revealed back in 2021 that the animated sequel was actually part one of two. Across the Spider-Verse ending spoilers follow.
